As investigators, faculty participate in national federal and pharmaceutical clinical studies, ranging from fundamental cellular investigations to the latest cutting-edge translational and clinical research. As educators, they train tomorrow’s generation of oncologists and hematologists through their academic activities at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
The division’s expert medical oncologists and hematologists are leaders in emerging chemotherapy and immunotherapy therapy treatments as well as hormonal and biological therapies. They ensure that each patient receives the most effective chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, and/or targeted treatments available, including access to the latest clinical trials. Patients have access to nurse navigators, oncology certified nurses, oncology social workers, and oncology nutritionists, who help to coordinate treatment and offer a broad range of support services and programs.
